PROPERTIES

COMPOSOR 24 is a mixture of extracts and essential oils of medicinal plants in vehicle of glycerinated water.

A mixture conceived for the treatment of infections of the urinary tract (cystitis, urethritis, pyelitis, etc.), combining the action of urinary disinfectants with diuretics.

It owes its features to the action of various plants:

Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (Bearberry) contains arbutoside: a beta-glucoside hydrolizable through emulsin into hydroquinone and glucose; together with methylbutoside. The urinary antiseptic action is due to the freeing of this hydroquinone through the urine. Possesses flavonic pigments developing a slightly diuretic action.

Calluna vulgaris (Heather) has a composition similar to that of the preceeding Bearberry, but its arbutoside content is lesser. Also contains plenty of tannin, which provides an astrigent action.

Betula alba (Birch) has diuretic properties due to flavonoids (hyperoside or quercetol-3-galactoside being the principal). Is not renal irritant.

Finally, Pinus sylvestris (Pine) essence has urinary antiseptic properties due to its content in pinene and limonene, coniferoside (a glucoside of coniferilic alcohol) and a heterosidic bitter principle: pinipicrine.

INDICATIONS

For infections of the urinary tract: cystitis, pyelitis, urethritis, etc.

COUNTER INDICATIONS

No counter indications.

PRECAUTIONS

It is advisable to follow discontinuous treatments. It is advisable to follow treatments of a minimun of 15 days.

SIDE EFFECTS

Occasionally, the mixture may dye urine green. Due to the excess of tannins, certain individuals may tolerate the mixture (bearberry, Heather) with difficulty; in these cases, doses should be lowered.
