PROPERTIES

COMPOSOR 18 is a mixture of extracts and essential oils of medicinal plants in vehicle of glycerinated water.

A plant combination exerting antispasmodic, antiinflammatory, cicatrizant, anestesic, analgesic, sedative and emollient actions, specially indicated for inflammations and gastrointestinal ulcers.

Its features are due to the action of various plants:

Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice) contains flavonoids (liquiritine) with antispasmodic and gastric antiulcerative actions, and triterpenic saponins (glycyrrhizine) with antiinflammatory properties.

Achillea millefollium (Yarrow) is useful the mixture owing to its antiinflammatory action, due to its content in essence (azulene) and sesquiterpenic lactones. Possesses flavonoids, apigenol, luteolines with their glucosides, which provide antispasmodic properties. Is also cicatrizant and cholagogue.

Althaea officinalis (Marhmallow), because of its richness in mucilages of uronic nature, is an excellent antiinflammatory of the mucous membranes and skin. These mucilages develop, as well, emollient activity, very useful for gastrointestinal inflammations.

Calendula officinalis (Calendula) contains some salicylic acid, essence, flavonoids (quercetin-isorhamnetin derivatives), carotenoids, tannin, a bitter principle (calendine) and a triterpenic saponin. Possesses, among others, antiinflammatory, antiseptic, cicatrizant and antispasmodic actions. These properties, together with the experience in its efficiency as a circulatory agent, make it of great use in the treatment of gastroduodenal ulcers.

Propolis is used because of its anaesthesic, analgesic, cicatrizant, antiflamatory actions, and mainly because of its protective effect of the gastric mucose due to its contents in flavonoids, among other components.

Origanum majorana (Sweet marjoram), due to its content in essence rich in terpineol, has, among others, antispasmodic and sedative properties. Has flavonoids and phenolic acids, contributing, together with the essence, to its hypotensive and diuretic action.

INDICATIONS

For gastric inflammations (gastritis) of every type (acute, corrosive, atrophic, postoperative, hypertrophic).

                For gastroduodenal ulcers.

In case of gastroesophageal reflux, gastric hyperacidity, etc.

COUNTER INDICATIONS

Contraindicated in high blood pressure and during the period of pregnancy, due to the presence of Licorice.

PRECAUTIONS

Incompatible with hypotensive drugs and corticoids, for the presence of Licorice.

SIDE EFFECTS

No side effects, provided that doses recommended are observed. High doses, because of the presence of Sweet marjoram, may cause headache and somnolence. Due to the presence of Licorice, overdoses may induce high blood pressure, edemata, muscular weakness, cramps, polyuria, hypokalaemia and high kaliuresis.
